What is BMI?

BMI is a screening tool that can indicate whether a person is underweight or if they have a healthy weight, excess weight, or obesity. If a person's BMI is outside of the healthy range, their health risks may increase significantly.

Under 18.5

You are considered underweight. This might indicate you are not eating enough or you could be ill.

18.5 – 24.9

You are in the healthy weight range for your height. Maintain this with a balanced diet and activity.

25.0 – 29.9

You are considered overweight. You may be advised to lose some weight for health reasons.

30.0 or more

You are considered obese. This can significantly increase the risk of various health conditions.
